This picture was made in 1938 after a student of Tera Byrd Averett's received one dollar for sending the Averett-Byrd story to "Alabama Oddities". The Southern News Service made the picture and sent it to newspapers throughout the country. A friend saw the picture in a London magazine and sent it to Jack Byrd in Tampa. The Averetts received mail from all over the U.S., including the Averett Historian, Will Averett of Greenwood, IN.
